Virtual WRRL 2020 Race 1 – 5K

May 1 - May 31

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Virtual WRRL 2020 Race 1

Format: 5K Virtual Race

WRRL Club Members

How to Enter
Enter via the link below. Use your EA Number and also select your Club when entering.
Run a 5K local to you, on a safe route and maintaining social distancing.
Submit your result using links from Strava or Garmin of your activity.
The platform will then collate results in a similar (but not identical) way to how normal WRRL results are organised (Club Competitions and Age Categories)
Eligibility is EA affiliated athletes. It’s free to enter as the platform is funded via EA membership.
Note: The Virtual Race series will not replace the WRRL 2020 but provides an opportunity for competition whilst we are all unable to race as normal.
To allow people time and space to train and run their 5K the race window is open for the whole of May 2020.
Please share any issues/feedback encountered when entering. It’s a fairly new system so there may be some teething issues we need to workaround.
If this idea proves successful and restrictions remain in place for mass participation events then a 5 Mile Event will be planned for June.

Runners of the Month – August 2020

Sue Marshall
Eddy Peachey
Alistair Kirkwood

"Our RoMs for August are Eddy Peachey Alistair Kirkwood and Sue Marshall

Eddy is running really well at the moment and his 10K in the vWRRL is 2 minutes quicker than the PB shown on Power of Ten, from last year's Northbrook race. That's a big improvement and to do that in a virtual race, is even more impressive

Next up is Alistair, writer of enigmatic race reports. The new look Woody has managed to shift some weight recently and is finding running a bit easier as a result.

Finally, Sue has been embracing the world of virtual racing, posting great times in the Club League, Kenilworth Grand Prix and her August 10K was very close to her PB. All good prep for her upcoming attempt at the Virtual London Marathon

Great efforts all round!"
